背景 The Urban Farming project was started in 2014 by a group of youth farmers on the seashore in Semarang, which initially spread across cities and formed a women's farmer community that promotes sustainable farming practices, applying permaculture principles, in urban and peri-urban areas of Semarang City. With 30 activity centers in Semarang, Bhumi Horta Foundation is working to activate them and encourage more people, especially young people. Volunteers will be placed in three main activity centers in Pedurungan, Central Semarang, and North Semarang.

The project aims:
・To support farming activity in the three main activity centers
・To set new plant hugel beds and support seedling activity in each farm.
・To promote sustainable farming practices through the local university and local schools
・To organize a non-formal eco-edu & language workshop for local schools
仕事内容 There are two kinds of activity:
・Farming work: including using agricultural tools like a shovel, a sickle, and a knife, etc
・non-physical works: workshop preparation and assisting small workshops with children or teenagers.

宿泊 Volunteers will live with the host family Mrs. Sri Akhadiyah (Leader of Women Farmer Coomuntiy). The house has facilities such as a shared kitchen, and a bathroom with Indonesian basic standard (toilet, wet toilet, no shower or bath provided, and simple kitchen). Local food is prepared from food grown in the garden or is available at traditional markets located not far from where the volunteers live.
