Background:
SCC (Stop Climate Change) have held this work camp continuous two years with “Shokubutusigen-no-chikara”.  “Shokubutusigen-no-chikara” is one of local NPO which motivated to cycle ecosystem, forest regeneration, and marine plants’ reborn.  They have held an international work camp from 1992, and made big achievement on “Jissei-no-moridukuri” at a land reclamation site.  They aim to learn lessons and make use of the experiences they have gained as one of foregoing the regional pollution sites.  Project of long and middle term have launched on 2011.  They act contentiously revitalize local community as to grow forests, environmental education, and assist farmers.  There have aging and depopulation, and youth outflow problems.  They really need hands to keep maintenance of local bamboo forest.  Now long term volunteers work for the bamboo forest as to keep maintenance the forests, and make bamboo charcoal for recycle.  They have held SCC program on 2016 in which they search and try for life style be related to carbon off set.   They also provide chances for short term work camp (4days camp, 1 week camp, and 2 weeks camp) participants with 3 months camp (7/4~9/25) participants.  

Work:
1.    Cut bamboo forests out.  Bamboo forests are abandoned because facing a declining birth rate and an aging population, and youth outflow.  
2.    Bamboo charcoal making and producing stuffs.  We aim to search for environmental protection of regional recycling.  It is inevitable to produce greenhouse gas emissions that we spend daily life.  

Place: 
There is the most southern part of Kumamoto-ken and close to border of Kagoshima-ken.  
The site is natural rich where places between mountains and sea side.  The seafood in Minamata bay has been declared safe by Kumamoto-ken. 

Accommodation:
A volunteer’s house. Self-cooking by rotation among members.  Available Wi-Fi.  Transportation from accommodation to the site is mainly by bicycle.  Need to take a sleeping bag.




Meeting date:  Aug.4th(Fri.),2017 11:40
Meeting place:  At the ticket gate of Shin-Minamata-Station on Hisatu-orange-tetsudou-Line.  You can take a bus from Kagoshima Airport to the station.  The bus will leave 9:45 from the airport bound for Minamata-Station.  It will get Shin-Minamata-Staion on 11:32. Please contact us if you should use any other transportations.

You can take the bus on 15:40 bound for the airport.  You will get the airport on 17:37.  
  
Belongings: Clothes for work in which you may get dirt, Clothes for changing and sleeping, A sleeping bag, A set for take a bath, Towels, A cap or a hat, A pair of gloves for work, A pair of long boots (we are feasible for rent some)
