Activity and attraction of this project:
We will reap rice by hand in YATSUDA (rice field of wetland in a valley).  We will also band rice straw together and dry by hand.  We are going hang up to dry rice on HAZA or ODA (HAZA or ODA is a kind of assemble things by woods for rice dry).  This way is the traditional way in which need more labor and effort.  But we assure you that you can feel full satisfaction through this work.  
Because the rice fields in YATSUDA become muddy in places, they needed for handwork.  After your experiences reaping rice in YATSUDA, you can reap rice anywhere all over the world.  Reaping rice in YATSUDA is the world high level of reaping rice.  Recently the rice fields in YATSUDA have been abandoned under above situations, so natural circulation system between mountains (Satoyama (country hills)) and the sea are diminishing its functions.  Please contact us people who are interested in environmental problems and the role of YATSUDA.  We are also welcome you who simply want to be muddy under blue sky, or who with a lot of gut.  
We plan to have ENKAI party with organic vegetables and rice harvested in this farm at night.  The main dish will be curry.  Let’s have fun with us!



 

Meeting date and place: Oct.7th(Sat.) 10:00 at Hatori-Station on JR-Jyouban-Line.  Please take the bus leaving at 10:10 bound for Itajiki-yama.  
Get off the bus at Koise-shougakkou-mae (Koise elementary school).  There are no buses after this one until afternoon.  Please check up train timetables beforehand.  Please keep time punctuality.  

Breaking up: We will take you to Hatori-Station at Oct.8th(Sun.) around 18:00

Belongings: GUT!, Suitable clothes in which you may get dirty, Rainwear (we will do work even in rain, so you need tough rainwear.  The rainwear at which you can buy at \100-shop are not tough enough, so they will be tore out in a first hour during work.  You better take rainwear with lining), Wearing long sleeves and a pair of long pants to prevent gnats (black flies) from biting in the morning and night, A pair of vinyl gloves (no cotton gloves) which you can buy at \100-shop and can fit your hands, A cap, Towel (which you can use for sun guard of your neck), A pair of sunglasses (in case you need), Clothes for change, A set for spend a night, A sleeping bag (in case you need your own) (you may use Futon of NICE), A warm jacket or a parka if you need (it will be chilly in the morning and night in this season as changing from summer to autumn), A pair of long boots if you don’t like to get wet (we will lend you TABI (Japanese split-toed shoes) for rice planting, but you will may get wet in TABI)
*Necessary to take your lunch for the first day.  
*This program schedule is middle of typhoon season.  In case of the typhoon strike, we will postpone this Work Camp one week behind.

*Price include the cost for ENKAI party, but we are welcome you taking stuffs.
