Work and Activity:
Let’s grow rice at Higashishirakawa-gun where is in the southern area in Fukusima-ken!  The site places in the most southern part of the Abukuma Mountain Range.  There is one of farming tough areas between plains and mountains.  There has a depopulation and aging society problem, as a result, there has many fallow paddy fields and uncultivated farmlands.  
We have started up the project to use some fallow paddy fields, and now we plant and grow rice through a year.  
We will have totally 4 Weekend Work Camp in this year.  We plant rice in May, maintain and mow in July, reap rice in October, have a food sampling party and process “Amazake (a sweet, hot beverage made from fermented rice or sake lees)” in December.  We also plan to farm in fields, to maintain mountain forests, to enjoy country life to the full.  

Unexpectedly this Tohoku-area is near Tokyo.  It takes only 3 hours from Tokyo by expressway buses.  The site is included in Tohoku-area, but you can get there only 3 hours from Tokyo to the nearest interchange by expressway bus.  We are sure that you can be relaxed and refreshed in great nature during overnight trip on your weekend!

You may concern radioactive contamination when you hear of Fukushima name.  We have examined the site of Work Camp and all ingredients for radioactive.  We use only safe stuff which meet national safety standards.  Please join us with security and safety feeling from radioactive contamination.  

This program will have other participants besides NICE.  You can meet overseas student studying in Japan from China, senior generation people, families, and so on.  
We are welcome people from foreign countries very much.  Why don’t you come and feel Japanese country life and traditional culture of Japan?  We have a student from Russia for medium-long term program now.  She will join this 2days work camp, too.  

Work:
・Tasting rice which have reaped in October and process “Amazake”
・Make “Konjac (jelly-like food made from the starch)”
・Work for soybean fields
・Tractor tillage hands-on course
・Maintenance of mountain forests
*The works will be changed by weather conditions.



Meals:
・Crispy pizza cooked in a stone oven  
・”Inaka-nabe (country casserole)” with “Shinmai (the first rice crop of the year)” and local vegetables
・Local dishes with locally grown foods on season

Spa:
・We plan to use Spa near the site for bathing (bathing fee \500 each is need to pay by yourself)

Accommodation: 
Experience inn of country side life named “WARERA-genki-club”

Accommodation place has been remodeled from a KOMINKA (old traditional Japanese house).  There equipped four bunk beds every rooms.  You need to share room which separated by sex and sleep in rental sleeping bag on mat laying on the bed.  You can feel traditional moods of old Japan.     

*This program is granted by “Fukusima-ken-chiikisousei-sougousien-jigyou (support service program)”.  This program aims for interact between country and city side which is managed by NPO Abukuma NSN.  

Meeting and breaking up point: waiting room of Iwaki-nakoso-interchange
*Our bus gives you pick-up service between the point and the camp site.

*We recommend for using of expressway bus named “Iwaki-gou” if you will come from Tokyo side.  You can take the bus leaving at 8:30 from Tokyo-Station-yaesu-minamiguchi bus stop.  You need to reserve a bus ticket in advance.  The bus will get Iwaki-nakoso-interchange, our meeting place, at 10:56.  
*Please let us know if you want to use the other transportations (for example, by train or by your own car).  

Breaking up: Dec.3rd(Sun.),2017 around 14:30
*Please make reservation of the bus leaving at 14:37 for back.  You can select arriving place as Ayase-station at 16:52, Asakusa-station at 17:12, Tokyo-station-nihonbashiguchi at 17:33.

Belongings:
Suitable clothes in which you may get dirt (long sleeve T-shirts, a pair of long pants), Changing clothes, Warm outfits, Toiletries, Towels, A cap, A pair of gloves for work, A pair of long boots (if you have ones, we are feasible to rend ones)
*Accommodation place is at a 650meter high altitude mountainous areas.  It will be 7~12 degree Celsius in day time, and -5~0 degree Celsius at night and morning time.  Please make sure to take warm outfit.
