背景 The NGO Association Togolaise des Volontaires au Travail (ASTOVOT) has more than 60 years of experience in international voluntary service. Each year, it welcomes many volunteers from all over the world on short, medium and long term volunteer projects (3 weeks to 12 months) in Togo. These projects allow the national volunteers (about 200) to work hand in hand with the international volunteers and to create a real intercultural exchange throughout the year. ASTOVOT is a member of the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVSUNESCO) and of the Network of Africa Voluntary Organizations (NAVO), and is in partnership with several volunteer organizations in Europe, Asia, the United States, Canada and Africa. Its projects focus on community development through the promotion of education and citizenship, health, social, environmental protection and intercultural learning, renovation and construction of socio-community infrastructures.
仕事内容 There is a serious problem of teacher shortage in the schools. Volunteers will help pupils to study effectively by assisting teachers during lessons, giving support classes, etc. Volunteers will support pupils in reading and writing (French), arithmetic, drawing and other subjects in accordance with the Togolese educational programme, while at the same time sharing the curriculum of their own country... In the kindergartens (2 to 5 years old), the volunteers will assist the teachers and come up with various socio-educational activities to entertain the children.
Work Description:

? Prepare lessons in collaboration with a teacher and organise support lessons. ? Help to correct students' papers, ? Monitor students during various assessments
宿泊 International volunteers working on long to medium term projects are accommodated with Togolese host families. The families are chosen according to their proximity to the volunteer'splace of work. They provide a private room for the volunteers as well as drinking water and 3meals a day (meals are adapted according to the diet of each volunteer). The volunteer remains independent and is free to go out and participate in activities of his/her choice. Living with a host family allows a total immersion in Togolese life to discover all its facets
場所 Kpalim? (TOGO). Situated 120 km north of Lom?, the commune of Kpalim? is the ideal place for nature lovers and
hikers who wish to discover beautiful mountainous landscapes and tropical flora. Numerous natural
waterfalls will allow you to refresh yourself at the water's edge. Kpalim? is also home to the most
important craft center of the country where a very large number of artists and craftsmen have settled.
In addition to the project, volunteers are free to pursue leisure activities such as discovery walks, hikes, festive outings and cultural encounters. These activities enable the volunteers to come into contact with the local population and discover Togolese culture. Please note that expenses relating to excursions and outings by volunteers are not included in the participation fees.

The distance between Lom?-Kpalim? is 121 km and the duration is 1h 45 to 2h drive. The price of a taxi between Lom? and Kpalim? is 3000 FCFA at the parking places (5?). We advise volunteers to pay 5,000 CFA francs for the driver to take you back to the association's headquarters.. Nearest airport is LFW. 資格 Age 18-75. To take part in this project, you must be aged 18 or over. Open-mindedness, optimism, motivation, initiative, ability to adapt to the realities of Togolese society, etc. NB: The volunteer will receive an infosheet explaining the Togolese education system ford primary classes before arriving.
備考 It is essential to apply for a visa before flying to Togo. We advise volunteers to apply for a tourist visa, as there is no section reserved for volunteers. ASTOVOT will send you a letter of invitation before you apply for your visa. It prepares the files requested before obtaining the visa. There is an infosheet for each project which contains information on the conditions of participation, contacts, necessary information on pre-trip preparations, arrival in Togo, transport, accommodation, planning of project activities...etc. The infosheet is sent individually to the volunteers after their registration to the projects. If you are interested in several projects, please let us know. We will try, as far as possible, to combine several projects. It is usually best to send a list with an order of preference. If you choose a single project and it only occupies a few hours per day, it will be possible to decide how to complete your schedule according to your desires and interests and the needs of our partners. It takes about a month between the acceptance of the project and the arrival on site. Indeed, some administrative steps have to be taken in order to welcome you. Once your project has been accepted, we will send you an official invitation letter
ASTOVOT doesn't have any insurance covering international volunteers. Volunteers should contact the sending organisation for more information. It is important for volunteers to have health insurance.
We recommend not carrying a lot of cash. They should bring bank cards to make withdrawals when they need them for purchases.
