“QHAWANA” ECOLOGICAL PROJECT

背景 Located in the Huambal? Parish in the southern part of the Province of Tungurahua, 7 km from the city of Pelileo, it has a population of 7,862 inhabitants (INEC-2010).
Agricultural production is considered one of the largest economic activities for the Parish, the production of potatoes, white onions and corn has been enhanced for a long time. We have a project to work in the La Florida community, which is located in the lower area of Huambal? with the modernization of irrigation and the diversification of crops, taking advantage of the fact that this area is one of the most productive in the Parish, in the central area of Huambal? work will be done implementing fruit orchards.
The volunteer activities are as follows:
- To feed domestic animals, like horses, rabbits, chickens etc.
- Cleaning
- Gardening ? Permaculture ? sowing and harvesting
- Community work
- Teaching basic English in the community
- Carpentry ? cabinetmaking ? carving process
- Equine therapy
- Cultural activities with the children with special children
- Sale products in the Agro fair.
Type: Permanent.: From January 2nd to December 23rd of every year
Age: Older than 18.
Language: Spanish is necessary and English.
Minimmum time of participation: 12 weeks
Schedule: Monday to Fridays 2 days off
Program fee: 1350,00 USD, must be paid at your arrival, before going to the project.
Cost includes: Twelve weeks of accommodation in the volunteer house, three meals breakfast, lunch and dinner and internet access after 16:00 hours, laundry facilities.
Cost does not include: Any kind of transportation, bottled water, extra food and beverages.
What to bring: Long trousers, long sleeves T-shirts, towel, rain jacket, cap, rubber boots, items for personal hygiene, swimsuit, sunblock, mosquito repellent etc.
PUBLIC SERVICES: There is current water, electricity, laundry facilities.

企画者・参加者の声 　「モンゴル」に憧れて参加。期待を裏切らない大自然。野菜の収穫は楽しかったけど、建設と水やりは少し寂しかった…不慣れながらも大人数の食事を準備したこと、みんなで文句を言いながらもやかんでお湯を沸かしてシャワーを浴びたこと、寒い中で星を見たこと、ささいな瞬間全てが「非日常」だった（経験者談）。
