| 背景 |
SCI Poland has been collaborating with Monar for over 20 years. Monar is Poland’s largest NGO dedicated to helping individuals overcome drug addiction. It operates 30 rehabilitation centers across the country, including five that specialize in youth counseling. The Gaudynki center is one of them. Nestled in the picturesque Land of the Great Masurian Lakes in northeastern Poland, it is surrounded by fields and forests, far from the hustle and bustle of city life. Monar’s mission is to provide care and support to anyone facing difficult life circumstances, guided by the values of love, tolerance, and respect for human rights and dignity. At Monar, no one is considered ‘lost’?everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their life and find their place in society. |
| 仕事内容 |
Around 30 young adults, aged 18?30, undergo year-long therapy at the Gaudynki center. They come from diverse backgrounds and different parts of Poland. In addition to their daily responsibilities, they engage in a range of activities, including art, sports, theater, and outdoor experiences, which play a vital role in their recovery. The aim of this workcamp is to introduce volunteers to life in therapy and help create an atmosphere that fosters healing and growth. As a volunteer, your main role will be to engage with the community by supporting them in their daily activities, such as gardening, cleaning, cooking, and renovation work. You’ll also play an active role in leisure activities?organizing games, campfires, sports, and creative workshops to bring fresh energy and positivity. |

Volunteers will stay at the center in shared rooms, with bathrooms separated by gender and shared with the residents. As this is a rehabilitation facility, certain rules must be followed?alcohol, drugs, and sexual interactions are strictly prohibited on the premises. While some residents may have limited English skills, communication barriers won’t stand in the way of forming meaningful connections. Most residents are open, friendly, and eager to engage with volunteers, making this a truly enriching and rewarding experience. |

Study Theme: This experience will provide valuable insight into the realities of drug addiction, substance abuse, and life during anti-drug therapy. Volunteers will not only learn about the challenges of overcoming addiction but will also explore alternative, community-centered ways of living and supporting one another. |

「モンゴル」に憧れて参加。期待を裏切らない大自然。野菜の収穫は楽しかったけど、建設と水やりは少し寂しかった…不慣れながらも大人数の食事を準備したこと、みんなで文句を言いながらもやかんでお湯を沸かしてシャワーを浴びたこと、寒い中で星を見たこと、ささいな瞬間全てが「非日常」だった（経験者談）。 |
