背景 Women empowerment project is a project under the Lolarash Lutheran church designed to offer an opportunity to the young and adult women from the Maasai (Pastoralist) community to gain skills useful in their development. This project reflects the sense that women play a key role in family and community development, so once empowered and given opportunities they can affect significant change in development.
仕事内容 Volunteers will engage/assist in the following outlined activities:
- Adult education classes- helping and supporting young and adult women who want to learn how to read, write and count.
- Teaching basic English language
- Attending in arts and craft workshops [Women are making various crafts, bracelets for incoming generation]
- Cooking classes and home management
- Health аnd Sanitation
- Workshops of various women development issues
宿泊 Accommodation will be at a community residential house. Mattresses will be provided in shared rooms. Volunteers are expected to help in meals preparation and cleaning. Vegetarian meals will be available for the entire period of the project.
場所 Lolarash [LONGIDO]. Lolarash is an area of Longido District, Arusha Tanzania. Located at 112 km from Moshi town. The community is accessible via public transport starting from Moshi Main bus terminal to Tarakea and then change to Lolarash. Indigenous inhabitants are Masai tribe, however due to the economic activities happening in the North Kilimanjaro Forest there is good mixture of people from various parts of the country. The community shares border with Kenya as well the Kilimanjaro Forest. If you are coming from Kilimanjaro Airport (About 43km) you will need to take shuttle to Moshi town. Possibilities and options for leisure activities are: -Wild-life safari: Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Tarangire National parks. There is also various packages depending on the available time and budget. [Mountain Climbing ? Mount Kilimanjaro, Meru and others, Eco and cultural tourism.]
集合場所 Pick up point will be Umoja Lutheran Hostel, located along Liwali Street in Moshi town on the first day of the project at 14:00 hrs. 追加登録費 300 EUR（募集時のレートでは約48,000円）/月をまとめて現地到着時に現金払い。
資格 Age 18-99. The volunteer's English level should be sufficient for daily communication and comprehension. C2 level is not required.
備考 Potential volunteers for this project need to have sufficient language proficiency to understand instruction given in English. Be flexible, open minded and eager to learn, independent, commitment to treating others with respect, Non-judgmental approach that values different cultures, Interest in people, cultures and their stories.
