背景 | The Association Togolaise des Volontaires au Travail (ASTOVOT), with over 60 years' experience, welcomes international volunteers every year for short, medium and long-term volunteering projects (3 weeks to 12 months) in Togo. These projects promote intercultural exchange between around 200 national and international volunteers. A member of the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCSVI-UNESCO) and the Network of Africa Voluntary Organisations (NAVO), ASTOVOT works with partners in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa. Its initiatives focus on community development, including education, health, environmental protection and the renovation of social and community infrastructures. |
仕事内容 | As it does every summer, ASTOVOT is organising introductory computer courses for the children of the Zomayi district and surrounding area, and more specifically for secondary school pupils. This summer we have decided to combine the computer courses with a public speaking component. The aim of this type of initiative is to help children develop practical skills while contributing to their personal development through a number of modules that will be taught. ? Hands-on workshops: Learning-by-doing sessions where students handle computers and discover different functions (writing a text, using a search engine, etc.). ? Theory lessons: Explain basic concepts about computers, how an operating system works, networks and online security. ? Awareness-raising sessions on digital security and good practice on the Internet. ? Public speaking: Workshops on public speaking, debates, role-playing and practical exercises in front of a group. |
宿泊 | Accommodation is simple and adapted to the project location. Volunteers are accommodated in groups of three or four per room, with flexible arrangements to ensure a mix of sexes. Depending on the site, dry toilets and waterless showers may be available. The association provides plastic or foam mats, and volunteers can bring their own sleeping bags if possible. Drinking water is available on site, but access to electricity and the Internet may be limited due to load shedding and difficulties accessing the network. FOOD: During the workcamp, the volunteers will prepare their own meals. An internal organisation will divide the domestic tasks, including cooking, between the groups on an alternating basis. The food used will be a mixture of local, imported and sometimes organic products. The diet of each volunteer will be taken into account when preparing meals. In addition, volunteers will have access to a variety of tropical fruits, such as bananas, oranges, pineapples, mangoes, avocados, papayas, etc. |
場所 | . Location : Kpalim? (Togo) Kpalim?, around 1h30 from Lom?, is a haven of natural beauty. Situated in south-west Togo, the region surrounding the town is lush and fertile, lined with wooded hills, deep valleys and small farming villages. Kpalim? is also the country's main craft centre, home to numerous artists and artisans, including woodcarvers, batikeurs, potters, weavers and calabash makers. Nature walks and hikes allow you to discover the paths leading to the daily life of the inhabitants, who are mainly farmers. In addition to the main activities of the work camp, several events are organised, such as discovery walks, hikes, festive outings and cultural encounters. These activities give volunteers the opportunity to forge links with the local population and immerse themselves in Togolese culture. At weekends, group excursions are organised by the volunteers and their leaders to explore the region's tourist attractions. The cost of these outings and excursions is not included in the participation fee. |
集合場所 | When you arrive at Lom? airport, a member of the organisation will meet you and take you to your accommodation in Lom?. Taxis from the airport to the hotel cost between ?10 and ?15. Transport to Kpalim? is by bush taxi or minibus. ASTOVOT's head office, where the volunteers meet and where the project starts, is 121 km from Lom?, a journey of between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours. The price of a taxi between Lom? and Kpalim? is around 3,000 FCFA (?5), but extra charges may apply. It is recommended that you pay 5000 FCFA for the driver to take you directly to the association's head office.. Nearest airport is LFW. Nearest train or bus station is Bus station Lom?- Kpalim?. |
