背景 Global learner is an experiential program involving Tanzanian volunteers and their foreign counterpart participants focusing on the big questions: “Can we design sustainable communities for future?” It is aiming to bring participants to live and work together on the beautiful Marangu village along the slopes of the Mount Kilimanjaro and have the opportunity to explore social, economic, spiritual and ecological issues and skills needed for developing sustainable life practices.
仕事内容 The project is organized along four themes:
Holistic worldview: The big picture: why do we need to be developing sustainable communities? Listening to nature, celebrating life, discerning your role and creating your dream.

1) Ecological: Bioregionalism, defining a watershed, introduction to local food issues and permaculture techniques.

2) Social: Building and embracing diversity, introductory communication skills.

3) Economic: Shifting the global economy to sustainability, understanding the global versus local argument, analyzing your ecological footprint careers in sustainability.

4) Hands-on activities may include: Maintenance of organic vegetable gardens that will include composting activities, weeding, watering plants. Others are maintenance of bio gas plants, bio gas cooking and other alternative technologies.
宿泊 Volunteers will be accommodated in a residential house in the community. Expect to share a room with other team members. Volunteers are expected to help in meals preparation, dish washing and kitchen cleaning. Vegetarian meals will be available.
場所 Marangu [KILIMANJARO]. The word "Marangu" means a place with too many water streams. It is one of the most popular places in Tanzania. Located at the foot of Africa's tallest mountain, the quaint village of Marangu offers fascinating insight into both modern Tanzanian life and into the lives of the Chagga people who once withstood vicious Masai raids through the ingenious use of tunnels. Majority of residents are farmers growing bananas, vegetables and coffee. Tourism is also part of activities that contribute to the economy of Marangu. Marangu is located about 40 km east of Moshi town, the capital of Kilimanjaro, it is accessible by both private and public transport. Social services including markets, shops, banks, hospitals are available in the community. Options for leisure activities include: -Wild-life safari: Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Tarangire National parks. There are also various packages depending on your available time and budget like Mount Kilimanjaro climbing, Eco and cultural tourism.
集合場所 Pick up point will be Umoja Lutheran Hostel, located along Liwali Street in Moshi town on the first day of the project at 14:00 hrs. 追加登録費 300 EUR（募集時のレートでは約48,000円）/月をまとめて現地到着時に現金払い。
資格 Age 18-99. The volunteer's English level should be sufficient for daily communication and comprehension. C2 level is not required.
備考 This project is suitable for a person who enjoys working outdoors, willing to share leadership roles, and having a sense of adventure. Those who are interested in other cultures, open minded, flexible and able to work under limited resources and minimum supervision. English and Kiswahili will be working languages but you do not need to be fluent.
