Hands-On Climate Action: Restore the Moor! (Mosbruch near N?rburgring)

During the project weeks, ditches are sealed. To achieve this, materials are transported into the area using wheelbarrows over wooden planks, boards are hammered and screwed into the ground, and sacks filled with sawdust and wood chips are used?or the material is directly compacted into the ditches to seal them. Teamwork is essential in this process. Additionally, shrubs and young trees such as birch, spruce, and willow are cut down and removed from the moor. The work is hands-on, wet, and muddy, but at the same time, great care is needed to avoid damaging the fragile moor vegetation. To protect the moor, volunteers move exclusively on wooden walkways, which they build themselves.

Autumn outdoor adventure on the orchard meadow

Help to improve the health and lifespan of trees and contribute to increasing biodiversity. You will work on an extensively used orchard with over 100 different fruit trees. These fruit orchards have characterised the landscape for centuries and are still used today for both fruit (apples and pears) and hay.

There will probably still be a few fruits hanging on the trees, so your task would be to harvest these first. Your main task then is to cut the trees. You will receive a detailed introduction, as there is a lot to consider. You will be equipped with tools and climb ladders to reach the uppermost parts of the tree.

What for? Trimming trees increases their lifespan and old trees are a perfect habitat for various animals. In general, orchard meadows play an outstanding role for biodiversity. They are among the most species-rich habitats in Central Europe.

You will work 5 days per week, 2 days off.

Greening the greenfinch

このプロジェクトでは、パーマカルチャーとアグロフォレストリーの概念に触れる機会がある。次の冬の期間に向けて、ガーデンの準備作業を行い、雑草を取り除き、土壌の保護作業、種まきや植え付けを行う。また、ガーデンの隣にコンポストビンを作るための創造的な作業もある。さらに、地域のカフェが主催するさまざまな活動に参加することができ、そこではコミュニティの集まり、歓迎、食事、知識の交換、そしてイノベーションを促進する場としての役割も果たす。

Rocks & Roses Gerolstein

The beautiful town of Gerolstein is located in the middle of the UNESCO Geo Nature Park Vulkaneifel. To make it even more attractive for visitors and tourists, the ascent from the market square to the L?wenburg castle ruins is to be redesigned. Together with local volunteers you will work on this steep footpath. Concrete tasks will be:
? Plant roses, as these were historically present there
? Plant marguerites, as the path leads through the Margaret's Gate of the historic city wall.
? Other landscaping activities to make the slope attractive and the transition between the town and the castle hill more smoothly.
? Construction of wooden benches for a viewing point.
? Maintenance of the metal railings.
? Set up information boards about the history of the path,
As local volunteers are still collecting ideas, these tasks might slightly change.

北アイルランド、L’Arche Belfastのコミュニティ。学習障がいのある成人メンバーの住むハウスで、住み込みのアシスタント。掃除、料理、身の回りの世話などの日常的な仕事を手伝い、お茶を飲みながらおしゃべりを楽しむことも。ガーデニング、料理、アート、ヨガなど、メンバーのアクティビティに同行するなど、深い友情を経験し、真の変化をもたらす素晴らしい機会。
