Agroecological farm in Cartago

The activities of Finca Agroecol?gica La Flor take place on the farm itself and, on occasion,
in other neighboring farms with which we collaborate, in the surroundings of the farm where we obtain some resources (such as pasture for the animals), or at the farmer's fairs where we plan to go to sell the vegetables we produce on the farm.

The following are the different areas of the farm and their respective activities:

1. Agriculture
- Crop planting
- Elaboration of microorganisms, extracts and organic fertilizers
- Preparation of the soil before sowing, adding compost and stirring by hand or with a motor hoe
- Weeding
- Sowing (making seedbeds, seedlings and then transplanting to the orchard)
- Harvesting
- Seed conservation

2. taking care of the farm animals (horses, goats, chickens)
- Grass collection
- Feeding twice a day (mornings and afternoons)
- Cleaning of stables and enclosures
- Repairing stables, fences, posts, etc.
- Collecting eggs every day
- Milking the goats

3. Botanical Garden and Forest
- Cleaning of trails
- Reforestation
- Pruning trees
- Expand the variety of ornamental plants
- Creation of observation areas
- Signage

4. Kitchen
- Coordination and planning with the orchards for food supplies
- Food preparation
- Elaboration of vegetarian and vegan recipe booklet
- Cleaning

5. Infrastructure
- Maintenance of cabins and common areas
- Construction of new spaces
- Reconstruction of old and obsolete spaces
- Collection of bamboo and wood from the forest for construction and furniture making

6. Administration
- Answering emails
- Making reservations for guests, volunteers, student groups, events, etc.
- Elaboration of welcome manuals for volunteers.
- Search for institutions and organizations to expand the number of collaborators.
- Publications in social networks
- Creating tours for our visitors
- Weekly planning and evaluation meetings

7. Research
- Identification of flora and fauna of the farm and elaboration of a catalog

Function of the volunteer:

General Objective
-The cooperant is asked to be part of the work team, getting involved in all areas of the farm.

Specific Objectives
-To understand the dynamics and processes of the farm in its different areas (all of them being interconnected), gaining autonomy to perform tasks and/or teach others.

Cloud forest reserve in Monteverde

Volunteers will be working in:
Most work is done along with the crew of the Reserve on:
● To maintain and to create trails
● To repair infrastructure
● To help with the reforestation project of the local high school
● To assist at the main office in town with reservations and translations
● To assist in the reception with tourists (to give information, translate documents or info for the tourists, etc.)
● If you stay for a longer period and have specific skills, you may also help with research going on at the Reserve.
● If the volunteer has photographic skills, then they can help to make material for the park.

Seniors centre in Heredia

- The tasks are mainly related to providing company and sharing experiences with the residents.
- Talking to the elderly people in order to get to know their likes, needs, health and to benefit from their advice and experience.
- Helping during mealtimes to serve the elderly people.
- Supporting in the laundry and cooking department.
- Supporting in the maintenance of the place.
- Participating in activities such as exercise or workshops (sewing, cooking, arts and crafts etc.).
- Coordinating some activities with the health professionals who are working in the institution.

Childcare and development center in Heredia

- To assist the staff with everyday tasks.
- To play games with the children.
- Informal or non-formal language workshops (music, videos, cartoons, children’s songs, puppets, etc.).
- To help with the mealtimes (also assisting the cook and if they want, they can cook traditional food from their home country)
- Maintenance and cleaning of the facilities.
- Encourage the intercultural exchange between yourself and the children from the center.
- Working in green areas and with organic compost.
- Support in recycling of regular waste.
- If you have artistic skills you can support in painting walls and creating murals.

Red de Voluntariado Hospitalario

The activities planned to be carried out are focused in covering the basic needs of a hospitalized person. That includes:
- Prepare activities like games or reading sessions
- Containment and support for family members.
- Collaboration in Internment Rooms, External Offices, Pharmacy and Sterilization.
- Outpatient Orientation.
- Delivery of clothes, personal hygiene items, toys, books and diapers
- Administrative support

It is important to note that the volunteers are not authorized to perform any technical task, for which the hospital already has staff.

Bosque Urbano

Volunteerings are spaces where we learn while we work, we share knowledge and take care of the space. We transplant, irrigate, identify species, remove invasive species and weeds, plant, make cuttings, fertilise and care for this great biodiversity.
The weekly agenda consists of the following activities:
1. Tuesday: Organic Garden Day.
2. Wednesday: Compost and biodigester day.
3. Thursday: Reproduction and care of native plants.
4. Friday: Biodiversity conservation.

The activities planned to be carried out are:
-Help in daily activities.
-Collaborate in infrastructure improvement and general maintenance
-Get involved in the planning and implementation of recreational and educational activities related
to the environment.
In general, the task of the volunteers consists in collaborating with the maintenance of the space,
participating and assisting in weekly scheduled activities and accompanying visitors who participate
in them.

These are tasks that support the work of the Foundation's teams. They are

- Help in organizing events in different areas. Collaborate in the development of the methodology of meetings between young people.

RESCUE CENTER - CLINIC FOR WILD ANIMALS JB

①救助チームの一員として現場での個体の捕獲・回収に同行、②動物受け入れ時の状態確認・チェック、③回復中の動物への投薬・ビタミン投与、④新生児動物への授乳、⑤回復中の動物のモニタリング・データ収集、⑥獣医助手としての補助、⑦野生動物の入院関連業務全般、⑧果物の収集や市場での買い出し、⑨食事の準備・栄養食の調整・給餌、⑩環境教育や見学グループへの案内、⑪小道やケージのメンテナンス(必要に応じて)、⑫放獣チームの一員として、必要に応じて国内の別地域に同行し、自然環境への動物の再導入を実施、⑬事務作業の補助、など。勤務時間は原則8:00?17:00(昼休み1時間30分)。動物の緊急対応時には早朝・夜間の勤務あり

午前中は1-5才までの子ども25人とまで活動し、午後は3-9才までの子ども20人と活動している。午前は6人のスタッフ、午後は3人のスタッフで対応。ボランティアと一緒に活動できることを大変ありがたく思っており、子どもたちがバイリンガルスキルを身につけることを目標としている。ボランティアには、英語のアクティビティを通じて教師をサポートしてもらう予定で、子どもたちが異なる文化や英語のさまざまな発音に触れることは、私たちのアカデミーにとって非常に重要だと考えている
