Killarney National Park Woodland Conservation Project

Volunteers will work on natural methods of rhododendron control in remote mountain areas of the park such as dead-heading rhododendrons, stem treating of mature plants with small tools, the picking of seedlings and cutting of saplings using secateurs. The work may include using handheld tools such as loppers and hatchets, which you will receive full training on how to use safely on the 2nd day of the project. In addition, volunteers will help to plant native trees, construct dead hedges using dead rhododendrons, and in other habitat conservation by pulling up seedlings, for example.

Bring nature back to Nellsch?tz

Bring nature back to an old gravel mine! You will support the transformation of an abandoned gravel pit into an ecologically valuable habitat and thus give back to nature what humans have taken from it.

The Nellsch?tz gravel company is creating a habitat with a pond, deadwood, rocks and steep slopes on an area of 4 hectares, providing a new habitat for amphibians, insects and various plants. All these tasks are done in close cooperation with the local authorities for nature protection. The site will also be used for environmental education work with children and young people in the future.
Specific tasks will include the construction of a circular path and a green classroom, the creation of a pond, deadwood areas, etc.

You will be digging, straightening, planting, sawing and nailing. There will be a wide variety of work with different levels of difficulty. If necessary, workers from the gravel company will support you with heavy machines. A landscape gardener will provide professional guidance.

Last year, the association initiated a shared pond project on its site in order to provide a response to periods of drought. You will therefore participate in the preparation, installation and filling of the pond (creation of gutters, installation of the liner, etc.) The second week you will participate in the organization of the puppet festival by creating a theatrical event. This project will allow you to use your creativity and your sense of responsibility. Experience permaculture and discovery of vegetable kitchen

Throughout the entire duration of the project, volunteers will work in the vegetable garden, carrying out various tasks (harvesting, cleaning, composting, sowing, planting, cooking, preserving...) and work on the renovation of a building using various natural materials (such as clay and straw). On Sunday, 27th of July, an Open Day is taking place. Volunteers will help set up the event and assist in some of its related tasks (animations, bar, etc.) and can also take a look at the partners' projects.

Santa B?rbara Altea Estiu III

Summer school aimed at promoting youth learning about the value of nature and the environment by bringing them closer to and connecting them with the local natural ecosystem. This fosters environmental awareness and provides them with learning tools, as well as respect for nature and humanity, through activities focused on the local flora and fauna.
- Volunteers will prepare with the help of the coordinators and campleaders different activities and workshops for the local children (we are looking for committed and proactive participants).
- Volunteers will participate in relaxion workshops, excursions, activities in the rural world and natural sciencies, manual and creative activities.

A space free of screens, warm, for learning and fun among all young people and focused on nature will be created. The participant will be instructed and will instruct to become familiar with the true protagonists of the camps, nature and coexistence. They will learn to know, respect and value the land and the inhabitants who populate it.

Knowledge of English is mandatory and Spanish or Valencian is valued.
During the summer, temperatures can be very high, and weather conditions may not be optimal due to this.

現地のコーディネーターによって組まれた毎日のプログラムの実施を手伝う。主な活動は、エストニアとボランティアの出身国との違いや共通点（歴史、伝統、言語、歌、踊り）を発見する異文化学習を、アート、ゲーム、演劇、スポーツ、ディスカッションなどを通して行うこと。ボランティアは、自国の文化（伝統舞踊、ゲーム、日常生活、名物料理など）に関連したワークショップを実施。現地のプロの教育者、ユースワーカー9名のスタッフと協力して活動する。

Archaeology and Culture

No experience is necessary as new volunteers are teamed up with students and experienced volunteers for hands on learning. Volunteer opportunities range from field excavations to basic maintenance and restoration tasks. This year we will be opening test excavations in the field and assisting with historic preservation tasks in early 20th century buildings, including the museum.

The workday is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The work is done in a friendly and supportive environment. Please understand that this is hard physical labor and includes digging with a trowel or shovel, screening soil, carrying buckets of dirt, and some other hand tool use. Each person will work at their own pace according to their physical condition.

The temperature can be quite hot or cool and rainy. BRING work gloves, work shoes and clothing, including a warm coat or sweatshirt, sun hat, rain coat, long sleeve shirts and pants as there will be mosquitoes. The work site can be dirty and muddy so multiple sets of work clothes are a good idea. The local mud is a very red color, which can be difficult to remove from clothing. Sunscreen and bug spray will be provided.

Study Themes:
History and contemporaneous events (what was happening around the world while people lived at the site). Geology ? why people chose to mine at this particular site. Immigration ? where the mining community was from, and what challenges resulted from such a diversity of origins.

SEEDS 045. Sn?fellsnes - Nature & Outdoors

his project is located on the beautiful Sn?fellsnes Peninsula, we will be based in the town of Grundarfj?r?ur, working on diverse tasks related to nature, environment and outdoor recreation.
The main tasks of the project will be environmentally related, such as planting trees and other vegetation; maintenance or infrastructure tasks such as creating and fixing walking paths in the recreational areas of the town and social tasks as: painting and fixing fences and play structures for the local school or kindergarten.
The tree-planting project is very important for biodiversity and to provide shelter from the wind; while the well maintained paths enable people to visit these amazing areas without damaging the surroundings and in addition SEEDS volunteers’ work helps to improve safety for visitors. The group can be split up for different projects, but it will never be less than two working together.
The working day normally runs from 09:00 - 17:00 with breaks for lunch and coffee. No previous experience is necessary but the work is demanding and might require a good physical condition. As it is outdoors work, volunteers shall be ready to adapt and be flexible, as depending on the weather, the work plan might change with short notice or the group may not be able to perform some of the tasks or activities planned.
Volunteers need to be prepared for working outdoors, be prepared to experience all kinds of weather and bring warm winter clothes as the tasks take place outside and it could get rather cold even in summer. Bring warm under-layers, waterproofs, walking shoes/boots, a good sleeping bag, hat, scarves and gloves.

Festival Esperanzah!　オルタナティブ音楽フェスの会場装飾、DIY

7/25（金）～7/27（日）まで開催される音楽フェスティバル「Esperanzah!エスペランサ！」の手伝い。フェスティバルの前後に活動するが、フェスティバル開催中の週末は自由時間でフェスティバルを存分に楽しめる。
・フェスティバル前：「装飾」チームに参加。主に舞台装置や会場を美しく彩る様々なアイテムの組み立てと設置。木材、金属、布、ペンキなどを扱い、ネジや工具（ドライバー、ノコギリ、アングルグラインダーなど）を使用。
・フェスティバル終了後、最後の3日間は、撤去作業。
